Switzerland Skiing Holidays - Stunning scenery
Skiing in Switzerland offers breath-taking Alpine scenery, world famous resorts, and the possibility of all-year-round skiing and snowboarding. If you’re after glamour, sophistication, and celebrity-spotting Gstaad, St Moritz and Verbier will appeal, but if it’s value-for-money you’re after, there are dozens of other ski resorts and family-oriented villages to choose from.

Skiing in Switzerland - Skiing for all
Close to the eastern border with Italy is one of the world’s finest and best known ski resorts - St Moritz. Here the picture-perfect Elgadine Valley offers excellent ski slopes and off-piste choices, not to mention a vibrant apres-ski scene and stylish shopping facilities. Switzerland specialises in spectacular mountains. The southern Jungfrau Region boasts three stunners - the Eiger, the Monch and the Jungfrau -  which reach heights of almost 4,000 m. Here the skiing is extensive, catering for all abilities, and the host of hospitable resorts, including Wengen and Murren, are easily reached thanks to the region’s efficient mountain train system. Grindelwald is the largest ski station in the Jungfrau Region, with access to 213 km of downhill piste, particularly around the north face of the Eiger. It has a wide choice of both wooden chalet and hotel accommodation, and a lively night life. Verbier is found in Switzerland’s southern-most Alpine region, where skiers can enjoy over 400 km of piste, complemented by a cosmopolitan village centre - a charming mix of chalets, buzzing bars and good quality restaurants. Perhaps the most popular resort for skiing in Switzerland is Zermatt. It nestles under the iconic Matterhorn mountain - the tallest free-standing mountain in Europe. Zermatt is circled by over twenty other mountain peaks and for the serious skier, offers skiing heights of up to 3,800 m and 20 black runs. Small but equally well equipped is Andermatt, an Alpine resort close to the Gotthard pass. It has gentle slopes as well as more challenging runs at above 2,500 m. As in so many Swiss ski resorts, skiing and snowboarding around Andermatt is assured throughout the season.

Skiing in Switzerland - Alpine exploration
The beauty of Switzerland takes some beating, so why not explore the many mountains and lakes without your skies? Walkers can take in glaciers, waterfalls and lakes, while the many mountain train routes will allow you to view breath-taking scenery at ease. Swiss resorts cater for many non-skiing activities from ice-skating, to indoor swimming to paragliding.
