The real skiing in Fernie takes place in the bowls, with a range of options for strong intermediates and advanced skiers, full of incredibly steep and challenging slopes, plenty of trees, lots of ungroomed terrain and deep powder. Part of the Canadian Rockies Super Pass Ski, skiing in Fernie also allows visitors to ski in the neighbouring resorts of Kimberley, Lake Louise and Sunshine Village-Banff.

Recent investment in the resort (Fernie is now owned by Resorts of the Canadian Rockies) has seen the growth and modernisation of the village, and with a new international airport in the works, skiing in Fernie is set to become a much more popular option. Whilst on a skiing holiday in Fernie, other activities to enjoy include sleigh rides, dogsledding, ice-fishing and snowmobiling, as well as discovering the heritage of the area in the old town.
