Chamonix Valley
The scenic Chamonix Valley runs through the French Alps and is home to a string of villages and ski resorts, including Chamonix, Argentiere, Les Praz and Les Houches. Chamonix Valley - Experience world-famous skiing in Chamonix
The Chamonix Valley is ideal for strong intermediates and more experienced skiers, however the skiing does cater to all levels from complete beginner to expert. Skiing in the Chamonix Valley ranges from around 1,000m up to 3,300m, and the skiing terrain found there ranges from low and gentle areas to extremely steep high-altitude slopes, with a huge amount of challenging terrain and off-piste opportunities. Beginners in the Chamonix Valley can choose from the family-friendly ski areas of La Vormaine, Les Planards, Le Savoy and Les Houches, whereas more experienced skiers should head for the slopes at Le Brevent/Flegere and Le Domaine de Balme. Expert and advanced skiers will enjoy the challenging terrain found at Les Grands Montets, full of moguls, vertical drops and extensive off-piste - a haven for extreme skiers. The Chamonix Valley is also home to the famous Valle Blanche run, at 22km one of the longest and most challenging in Europe.

The main town in the Chamonix Valley is Chamonix itself, a world-renowned ski resort and the oldest and largest in France. Lively yet traditional, Chamonix is a year-round tourist attraction, and alive with a vibrant apres-ski scene, and plenty to see and do. Argentiere lies just 8km up the valley from Chamonix, and offers a smaller yet well-equipped village with some great restaurants. Whilst on a skiing holiday in the Chamonix Valley, don't miss a cable-car trip up to the top of the Auguille du Midi, or a ride on Frances' highest cog railway.
