Skiing in Tignes offers skiers the chance to visit one of the largest and best-known resorts in the French Alps, most famous for being one of Europes' highest, and offering perhaps the best snow conditions and the most extensive skiing around. Situated at 2,100m, skiing in Tignes is an ideal base for intermediate and expert skiers, keen to make the most of the huge ski area, L'Espace Killy, that the resort shares with neighbouring Val d'Isere and enjoy the high-altitude. Offering extensive skiing that does cater to all levels and abilities, skiing in Tignes is known for a huge variety of slopes and terrain, and extremely well-served by a modern lift service incorporating 97 lifts. L'Espace Killy boasts 300km of piste, and is known as one of Europes' best ski areas, offering everything from good nursery slopes for beginners to some of the most challenging lift-served off-piste around, ideal for adventurous experts. Skiing in Tignes offers quick and easy access to the Grande Motte glacier, the highest point at 3,656m, which boasts year-round skiing and spectacular views.

The resort has five villages to choose from, with skiing in Tignes offering Val Claret and Le Lac, at 2,300m and 2,100m respectively, home to convenient high-rise ski-in/ski-out accommodation, and the lower villages of Les Boisses and Les Brevieres providing a quieter, more traditional atmosphere at more affordable prices. Apres-ski on a skiing holiday in Tignes is a relatively quiet affair, with the five villages in the resort all offering different atmospheres, and the busiest and most lively apres-ski venues located at the higher altitude. Far from being the most charming French ski resort, the purpose-built resort has been reinventing itself of late, and after remodelling and developing, is beginning to re-emerge as a more attractive option, with skiing in Tignes now hoping to have wider appeal.
