Whistler is the number one ski resort in North America, has international fame and certainly lives up to its name, it is also the closest ski resort to Vancouver making a city add-on possible. The mountains of Thompson Okanagan are in the centre of British Columbia and the ski resorts of Big White - the second largest ski resort in British Columbia, Silver Star and Sun Peaks are situated there. They offer good value for money, mixed ability and family ski holidays. The British Columbia Rockies are home to Fernie, an expert skiers and snowboarders paradise, five large bowls and excellent snow conditions. The uncrowded slopes also make Fernie a perfect ski resort for beginners and intermediate skiers. Kimberley is a 2 hour drive away and is a smaller, quieter ski resort than Fernie and is a good value ski option for families. Kicking Horse is also in the British Columbia Rockies and is famous for its Champagne Powder; the majority of the runs are for advanced skiers.
