Beaver Creek Skiing Holidays
Beaver Creek is the sister resort of its’ more well-known neighbour, Vail, an easy and delightful 2 hour drive from Denver, and has rightfully earned the reputation as one of the top luxury destinations in the USA. With its’ 5 star hotels, such as the Ritz-Carlton and the Hyatt, gated communities, upscale shopping boutiques and the only outdoor escalator in the country to transport visitors and skiers, Beaver Creek exudes beauty, charm and exclusivity, whilst offering a great range of beginner and intermediate slopes, situated over the three village areas, Beaver Creek itself, Bachelors Gulch and Arrowhead.
Ski holidays in Beaver Creek – The Slopes
Beaver Creek is situated at a height of 2469m, with an extensive ski area covering 146 trails, served by 16 lifts. The slopes are meticulously groomed and skiing from village to village is made very easy. Beaver Creek is a great place to learn to ski in, with a specific beginners lift serving the wide open nursery slopes, and the trails being well marked and not too crowded, served by the efficient lift system. Intermediate skiers will find themselves spoilt for choice in Beaver Creek – head to Bachelors Gulch for some varied runs or the long trails within the Larkspur Bowl. With only 27% of the terrain, expert skiers have the least amount of terrain to explore within the slopes of Beaver Creek, but the mogul fields of Grouse Mountain with their double black diamond ratings and the steep slopes of the Birds of Prey should be skied, before automatically heading off the Vail, the single largest ski area in the US and only a 15 minute trip away. The other resorts of Summit County are all available on a lift pass from Beaver Creek – Breckenridge, Keystone, Copper Mountain and Arapahoe Basin.
Beaver Creek Skiing – The Après-ski
As you would imagine, Beaver Creek has its’ fair share of first-rate restaurants – take a sleigh ride up to Beanos’ Cabin for an unforgettable gourmet evening, or just stroll round the pedestrian village, watching the skaters glide around the central rink and take your pick from any number of places offering a wealth of affordable dining options. The luxury hotels have a multitude of bars to try, or you could do like the locals do and visit the more down to earth Coyote Café, or traditional Western Dusty Boot Saloon. Spas abound here in Beaver Creek, and there are various art galleries to browse within the village. Those who would like to sample the Beaver Creek experience on a budget can stay in the much more reasonable neighbouring town of Avon, 10 minutes away and use the shuttle bus service to get to the village and slopes.
