Skiing in Borovets, Bulgaria
Borovets is the oldest and largest ski resort in Bulgaria; it is situated at 1300m in the beautiful Rila Mountains. Borovets has 40kms of piste across three ski areas reaching up to 2500m and the snow conditions are good amongst the pine forests. Borovets offers excellent value for money, with a short transfer time from Sofia it is also a perfect family skiing resort and for skiing beginners. There is also a Ski Kindergarten located in the resort.

Borovets has a very good ski school and nursery slopes in the ski village and at 2000m, the ski lessons and ski hire are relatively cheap compared to most of Europe. Borovets is a great ski resort for intermediate skiers, and there is an efficient lift system to move skiers around the three ski areas, the longest ski run in Borovets is 5kms. For advanced skiers in Borovets there is the challenging World Cup run, some great skiing through the trees and good off piste opportunities. Borovets is a perfect location to learn snowboarding and there are 25kms of cross country trails.
Apres ski in Borovets
Borovets has a fun and lively apres ski which is generally good value for money, there are plenty of cheap restaurants serving simple, traditional food. There are several bars with competitive happy hours and some of the hotels have clubs. It is recommended to take sterling to Borovets as the commission on credit/debit cards can be high. A couple of the hotels in Borovets have swimming pools and fitness centres, there is a bowling alley, skidoo rides and horse drawn sleigh rides. There is also spectator ski jumping to experience and tobogganing.
