Ski school
The area is renowned for its excellent tuition and has 7 ski schools with many English-speakers on hand. Schools offer a range of lessons for all ages, from basic learn to ski and board packages, to specialised instruction in advanced techniques such as carving and racing. Ski guiding and ski touring is also available. 
 
Children
Childcare is offered for babies as young as 3 months and up to age 7, with the kindergarten at Mayrhofen well-equipped with a swimming pool and a nursery school. Private babysitters are available, and the resort offers equipment for rent such as push chairs and cots.     
 
Shopping
Shops in the local villages include ski rental and sports shops, supermarkets, clothing stores and boutiques, and souvenir and arts and crafts shops selling gifts such as local woodcarvings and crystal. Food shops feature local butchers, bakers, cheesemongers and farm produce shops.
 
Dining
Food available ranges from pizza and pasta to traditional Tyrolean specialities, with plenty of hotel restaurants and a host of cosy Austrian cafes offering coffee and cakes. The largest resort, Mayrhofen, has the best choice with over 30 different restaurants. 
 
Apres-ski
Apres-ski varies depending on the resort, with small villages such as Finkenberg offering a cosy scene with local inns, whilst Mayrhofen boasts lively nightlife, from raucous snowboarding haunts, ice-caves and sports bars, to all-night discos.
 
Town services
Towns in the region have banks with cash points, post offices, town halls, libraries, launderettes, hairdressers, car rental, railway stations and internet cafes, and there is a regular bus service that runs through the valley.
 
Medical facilities
The Zillertal is well-equipped with doctors, chemists, hospitals and emergency services available.
