Snow Conditions in Zermatt
Located at the northern base of the Matterhorn, Zermatt lies at the sheltered end of a north-facing valley, and enjoys the longest winter ski season in the Alps. All three of its ski areas open in mid-November and stay open until May, and the resorts' altitude of 1,620m results in an extremely snow sure resort. Due to the glaciers in the area, Zermatt can claim 365 days skiing a year, with 25km of piste and 8 lifts operating during the summer season.

Zermatt Snow Conditions - Excellent snow conditions, varied terrain
With all three of Zermatt’s' ski areas reaching 3,100m, snow conditions in the area are generally excellent. There is a range of varied terrain in the resort, ranging from lots of long runs down to the village, to a mix of wide open runs and steep mogul fields. Many of the slopes are north-facing, meaning they hold the snow very well and there is an abundance of powder, especially in the spring months. This deep powder snow makes Zermatt an ideal resort for off-piste skiing (although always take a guide).
