Winter Park ski holidays are in the Fraser Valley in the Rocky Mountains of Colorado, just 90 minutes from Denver. Known for its fantastic snow record, Winter Park boasts the highest 10-year average for snow throughout all the resorts in the state, receiving an average of 937cm each year, (with 2007 seeing a total winter snowfall of 853cm). Situated next to the Continental Divide, the resort is ideally located to receive plenty of snow from every direction, as when storms from both the west and the south hit the area, they become trapped and can't move until they have deposited a large amount of snow. Winter Park also sees an average of 106 sunny days during the ski season, creating ideal conditions for winter sports.

Sitting at a height of of 2,743m, this high-altitude resort offers skiing up to 3,676m. Terrain is varied in Winter Park, covering 5 interconnected mountains, with two separate base areas at Mary Jane and Winter Park. Beginners have some ideal areas to start on, with the Discovery Park at the base offering plenty of gentle sloping runs to practice on, served by 3 lifts. Intermediates have a wide range of trails to choose from, ranging from fast cruising runs to gladed trails, and the resort offers bowl skiing specifically aimed at intermediates. Winter Park is known for its challenging expert terrain and vast off-piste, with most of the steeper terrain and huge moguls found on Mary Jane.
 
Snow Conditions In Winter Park - Snowmaking, and a long ski season 
The ski season runs from mid-November to early April, with the abundant natural snowfall backed up the resorts' snowmaking on 26 trails, which covers 121 hectares. January sees the most snowfall in Winter Park, with 91cm each month and also the coldest temperatures, with an average of -9C. Upper slope averages for Winter Park reached 253cm in 2007, with even the lower slopes reaching 206cm.
