Wengen Resort Facilities

Wengen has 3 ski schools, which offer an excellent standard of tuition with a good number of English-speakers, and a range of ski and snowboard lessons and private instruction.

 

The Playhouse Wengen crèche takes children aged 18-months up to 7, and ski school is available for ages 4-12. The resort is car-free and quiet, making it a popular destination for families with children.   

 

The traditional streets of Wengen have a small range of 20 shops selling ski and sporting equipment, jewellery, clothing, arts, crafts and gifts, and there are bakeries and cheese shops, as well as 2 supermarkets.

There are 20 restaurants in Wengen, mainly located in the town's hotels, offering a range of rustic alpine cuisine including pizza and fondue, and a choice of over 20 huts up on the mountains.

 

Although the atmosphere is quite lively when the lifts close, there is a laid-back and relaxed après-ski scene after dark, with 8 bars and 2 discos in town.

Wengen has 2 banks, a post office, tourist office, an internet cafe and a hairdressers. The compact town centre is car-free and can only be reached by train from the village of Lauterbrunnen (with the hotels running a series of convenient electric cars for luggage and those with walking difficulties)

There is a chemist and doctor in town.
