Indoor activities The Verbier Indoor Sports Centre offers extensive facilities, such as an indoor swimming pool, squash and tennis courts, an ice-skating rink, curling rink and a climbing wall. There is also a fitness centre, and a sauna, solarium and Turkish baths for the ultimate in relaxation, with facilities for massages and beauty treatments in town.
Restaurants The international resort has something for everyone, from fast-food and cafe-style meals, to Michelin-starred restaurants and cosy Swiss eateries serving local specialities. Don't miss the famous fondues and raclettes, made with local Swiss cheeses, which are served throughout the resort. Verbier is also home to a range of international restaurants, from French, Italian, Mexican and Japanese. The standard of food on the mountains is high, with a good selection of cafeteria-style and full-service restaurants.
There is also a good choice of tea-shops and cafes in the town, perfect for coffee and hot chocolate and delicious cakes and pastries, at any time of the day.
Après-ski When the lifts close, the bars in Verbier start to fill up and remain packed until late into the night. As well as the usual popular meeting places attracting a loud party-loving crowd, the resort is home to places offering quiz nights and live music, as well as quieter inns and lounges with cosy log fires. The resorts' 4 discos stay open late and cater to most types, ranging from the young and raucous British crowd to the stylish and wealthy local clientele.
There is a cinema in Verbier often showing English-language films, and many of the bars have live bands performing. For slightly more culture, visit the Alpine Area Museum or the chapel in Hameau with its beautiful stained-glass windows and amazing organ.
Shopping The shops in Verbier tend to be quite pricy, but great for the occasional splurge or some window-shopping. Numerous ski shops sell an extensive range of clothing and products, and there's a good choice of designer clothes in the trendy boutiques. Souvenirs from Verbier include typical Swiss goods such as chocolate, watches, army knives and cow bells.
