Snow Conditions In Vemdalen - Snow-sure resort in Sweden
Vemdalen is located in central Sweden, about 500km from the capital Stockholm, and sits amongst beautiful scenic landscapes full of pine forests, lakes and mountains. The village is located at an altitude of 710m, with skiing up to 938m, and the resort is known to be snow-sure, with its ski season running from December to May.
Vemdalen Snow Conditions - Three linked areas, great for beginners
Vemdalen skiing consists of three areas - Vemdalen, Bjornrike and Klovsjo/Storhogna - which together offer 52 runs with a vertical drop of over 400m. The slopes face both north and south and are located on either sides of the valley. There's both above and below tree-line skiing in Vemdalen, and although the runs are short and fairly limited, the terrain is varied. Vemdalen and Bjornrike are best for beginners and children, with the lower slopes of Klovsjo and Storhogna offering more challenging terrain (unusually here the easier slopes are located at the sunny top end of the mountain). In good conditions, there's plenty of powder above the tree-line for advanced skiers to explore.
Snow Conditions In Vemdalen - Good natural snowfall, backed up by snowmaking
Due to its northern location, the resort generally sees reliable snow through the winter, with the 2007-8 season seeing a total of 132cm of accumulated snowfall. In addition to the natural snow, Vemdalen has a snowmaking operation featuring 45 snow cannons, covering 70% of the slopes.
