Skiing in Vars
Skiing in Vars offers a quiet and traditional resort with a distinct French feel, boasting an extensive ski area with a good snow record. Together with neighbouring Risoul, skiing in Vars encompasses the giant ski area, La Foret Blanche, with a huge range of pistes and terrain. The resorts' location in the southern Alps ensures plenty of sunshine, with skiing in Vars offering over 300 sunny days every year.

Lack of crowds, a long season and a good snow record makes skiing in Vars a popular choice, especially with the French. With 180km of terrain and a resort height of 1,850m, skiing in Vars offers a combination of varied piste, and is a good option for mixed abilities. Skiing in Vars is especially suitable for beginners, with gentle, sunny nursery slopes, and also offers plenty of intermediate slopes above the tree-line and in the wide open bowls. There are more challenging runs further up the mountain, with plenty of terrain above 2,500m, and advanced skiers in Vars can choose from 11 black runs and a good amount of off-piste. The two resorts of Vars and Risoul are well-connected, and 33 lifts give skiers in Vars easy access to the Foret Blanche ski area. Snowboarders will also find an extensive snowpark in the resort of Vars.

The apres-ski tends to be fairly quiet and laid-back, with skiing in Vars ideal for families and groups of friends looking for a traditional French ski resort, at affordable prices. Skiing in Vars takes place over four villages, with the largest, Les Claux, home to most of the resorts' facilities, offering a small selection of shops, bars and restaurants. Other activities to enjoy whilst on a skiing trip to Vars include ice-skating, ice-climbing, tobogganing, dog-sledding, a games arcade and a cinema.
