Valloire Snow Conditions

Snow Conditions in Valloire - Well-groomed uncrowded slopes
The resort of Valloire lies in the Maurienne Valley, between the Three Valleys and the Italian border, and encompasses a series of 17 small hamlets. Valloire offers high-altitude slopes, and groomed, well-maintained runs which remain uncrowded for most of the season. Thanks to its north-facing slopes which help to retain coverage, Valloire sees good snow reliability throughout the season, which runs from mid-December to mid-April.

Valloire Snow Conditions - Most of the skiing above 2,000m
Valloire lies at an altitude of 1,400m, and offers 150km of skiing in three main areas - La Setaz, Le Crey du Quart and Valmeinier. The 34 lifts take skiers up to a top elevation of 2,600m, and with over three-quarters of the terrain above 2,000m, there's plenty of high-altitude skiing for all levels, and a variety of runs, which range from wide open trails to tree-skiing through woodland. Beginners have nursery slopes both at village level and at the top of the mountain, as well as a number of gentle greens to practice on, whilst intermediates can choose from reds and blues running from Valmeinier to Valloire. There is some terrain for advanced skiers, such as thrilling off-piste at La Setaz and challenging blacks at Crey du Quart, and the world-class slopes of the Three Valleys are within reach for those staying at the resort.

Snow conditions in Valloire - North-facing slopes, enhanced by snowmaking
To supplement the natural snow, there is snowmaking in Valloire covering 50km of terrain, created by 400 snow cannons. The 2009 season saw upper slope averages of 169cm in the peak month of March, with January and February experiencing highs of 109cm - 156cm, respectively.
