Valloire Skiing Holidays
Valloire, sitting at the foot of the Galibier pass in the Maurienne Valley, offers extensive skiing for beginners and intermediates in a friendly traditional environment. Originally a farming hamlet, skiing has been established in Valloire since the 1930’s and the village has managed to retain its’ rustic charm. Valloires’ location between the Trois Vallees and the Italian border means skiers can access the massive Trois Vallees ski area, via Saint Michel Valloire, a short distance away.

Skiing in Valloire – The Mountains
Valloire is located at a height of 1,430m and its’ north facing slopes and substantial snow cannons ensure good snow coverage. Beginners and intermediates have the most terrain in Valloire, with over 90% of the runs, leaving experts with a limited amount of trails. The skiing is in three separate areas – Le Setaz, Crey du Quart and Valmeinier - and the resort offers 150km of pistes reaching an altitude of 1,800m. The terrain in Valloire is varied, from the wooded trails of Le Setaz region, to the wide runs perfect for cruising in Valmeinier. Valmeinier itself consists of two areas, 1500, a traditional village, and 1800, a purpose-built region with convenient ski-in/ski-out accommodation, and is an ideal spot for beginners and intermediates. For expert skiers, Valmeinier is home to an Olympic run, and the third region in Valloire, Crey du Quart, offers some tough black runs, good powder and off-piste skiing. Valloire is home to a snowpark, and has 25km of cross-country trails.

Skiing in Valloire – The Village
Valloire is a charming Savoyard village, centred around a Baroque church dating back to the 17th century, and offers a traditional base in which to stay. The village is friendly and reasonably priced, and with 5 kindergartens and an Adventure Park, Valloire is a popular choice amongst families. The après-ski is not extensive, but there is a selection of bars and authentic French restaurants available and, after dark, Valloire has a couple of clubs and discos to visit. Whilst skiing in Valloire, other facilities for visitors include a bowling alley, an ice-rink and a fitness centre.
