Snow Conditions in Val d'Isere
Val d'Isere is considered a 'snow sure' ski resort due to it's location high in the French Alps. The resort itself is at an altitude of 1850m with the highest pistes at 3455m. Many north facing slopes reduces the amount of exposure to heat from direct sunlight and allows the snow to lie longer (which is especially useful to know in warmer months like March and April). However, these North facing slopes during parts of the ski season have slushy snow lower down the pistes which can form into ice over night. This can make the early part of the morning a little icy on the North facing slopes, so either sleep in or head to other slopes. 

Finding the best places to ski in Val d'Isere
Piste grooming (or 'bashing') is generally excellent in resorts that are as well estabilished as Val d'Isere, but some runs and mountains will be 'better' than others. Ski guides are good investment if you're an intermediate skiier that's not been to Val d'Isere before or you're looking for the best off-piste action. If your budget doesn't stretch to hiring a ski guide ask as many people 'in resort' as possible for their option. Above all ask your rep, they should be able to answer your question pretty well and some will even provide you with the latest forecasts and pocket-sized piste maps.

Val d'Isere historical snow fall 
Val d'Isere's altitude means that any rain at lower altitudes will normally be snow in the mountains. This means that the resort's snow record over the last five years is very good. However, in the last two years the amount of snow and snow coverage now seems to be better in March and April (5 years ago Feburary and March was better).
