Ski School
There's a choice of 5 ski schools in Val Thorens, from well-known names such as ESF and ESI, to Prosneige and Ski Cool, all employing more than 140 instructors. Choose from private tuition or group lessons, as well as classes in cross country and free riding.
Child Care
The ESF has a nursery for children aged 3 months to 18 months, and a crèche for ages 18 months to 3 yrs. The Mini-Club combines lessons and playtime for children aged 3 and 4, and most of the ski schools offer on the slope tuition from 4 years old. Snowboarding lessons are available for ages 6 and older.
Après Ski
Val Thorens enjoys a fairly lively scene with an international atmosphere. There are 10 bars and 3 clubs to choose from, ranging from cosy local inns to Irish and British bars - many offering happy hours, karaoke and live music.
Dining
The town has over 50 restaurants, including 12 up on the mountain, offering everything from casual fast food, rustic alpine fare and Michelin-starred cuisine. There are plenty of Savoyard specialities and local French dishes to be enjoyed in and around the resort.
Shopping
Val Thorens has 80 shops located in 2 main arcades, many selling ski gear and sporting goods, as well as clothing, gifts, photography and art. There are also numerous grocers, butchers, bakeries and gourmet food shops.
Services
The town has 4 banks, a post office, tourist office, library, petrol station, 3 launderettes and a cyber cafe. For self-caterers, the 7 supermarkets and a twice-weekly market offer the chance to buy supplies. A free shuttle bus ferries visitors around the town.
Medical Facilities
There are 2 medical centres, an emergency centre and a chemist in town, with the nearest hospital located in Moutieres.
