Snow Conditions in Val Gardena - Reliable slopes and extensive terrain
Val Gardena lies in the South Tyrol region in Italy, and enjoys an ideal location in the scenic Dolomites. There are three towns that make up Val Gardena - Ortisei (1,236m), Santa Cristina (1,428m) and Selva (1,563m), the highest - and all are covered on one single lift pass. Val Gardena offers extensive skiing for all levels, as it is linked to the vast Dolomiti Superski area. Conditions in Val Gardena are reliable, with the area seeing an average snowfall of 2.5m.
 
Snow Conditions in Val Gardena - Ideally placed for access to the Sella Ronda
Skiing in Val Gardena takes place at an altitude of 2,518m, and the resort is best known for being connected to the famed Sella Ronda circuit. This is a challenging 24km ski tour around the Sella Massif, which can be tackled in either direction, or takes in 4 different passes against the dramatic scenery of the stunning Dolomites. Over half of the slopes in Val Gardena are rated intermediate, but the 175km of local terrain offers some gentle runs and good beginner ski areas, as well as steeper trails, including some World Cup runs, and a mixture of tree-lined pistes and wide open bowls. Val Gardena links to the huge Dolomiti Superski area however, with over 1,220km of terrain served by 450 lifts, meaning an incredible amount of choice for all levels of skier.    
 
Snow Conditions in Val Gardena - Excellent snowmaking facilities all season
The ski season runs from early December to early April, with Val Gardena seeing reliable conditions throughout the season, thanks to the 85-90% snowmaking facilities that operate on the pistes. As the slopes are located on green grassy pastureland, the runs require less coverage for quality skiing, and tend to maintain the snow for a longer time.
