Ski School
A good choice of 6 ski schools offer a range of private and group lessons, with locations in Selva, Ortisei and Santa Christina. The schools employ almost 400 instructors, including some English-speakers, and there's also an excellent range of ski guide services.
Children
There is a Mini Club offering childcare for babies and children under 4, as well as a Kindergarten in Santa Christina taking ages 18 months and up, and private babysitting available. Ski lessons are offered for children aged 4 and up.
Shopping
The villages offer a range of shops, including the essential ski hire and equipment shops, and selling clothes, books, gifts and speciality foods. Traditional wood carvings can be bought everywhere and make great souvenirs.
Dining
Many visitors opt for the half-board option in the local hotels, but there are over 100 places to eat in Val Gardena, featuring pizzeras, cosy cafes and gourmet Italian restaurants, and a good choice of about 20 on-mountain huts.
Apres-Ski
Val Gardena has around 25 bars in the area offering après-ski entertainment, ranging from quiet wine bars and local inns, to lively ski bars on the slopes and a handful of late-night discos.
Town Services
The 3 villages making up Val Gardena are linked by free shuttle bus, and offer a range of services, including a tourist office, post offices, numerous libraries and banks, hair dressers and dry cleaners.
Medical Facilities
There are 2 hospitals in the area, as well as local doctors and chemists in the villages, and a helicopter rescue in operation.
