Val di Fasse Skiing Holidays
Val di Fasse, in the northeastern region of Trentino, is a key area in the beautiful Italian Dolomites. It is an extensive ski area known for its’ spectacular scenery and fantastic skiing. Val di Fasse, close to the Austrian border, is part of the area steeped in Ladin history, and the culture of this mountain race is still very apparent, with the region even having its’ own official language. Farming, together with tourism, is still a major industry in this traditional area. Eight small resorts, situated in the 20 km Fasse Valley make up the ski area, which are all linked by free bus service, and Val di Fasse is ideally placed to offer a wealth of skiing for all abilities, being part of the famous Dolomiti Superski Pass, with its’ 450 lifts serving 1220km of terrain.

Skiing in Val di Fasse – The Mountains
Val di Fasse claims to have 200km of skiing in and around the area, with the smaller resorts of the valley being lift-linked to Val Gardena, Alta Badia and Arabba. The largest  resort in the valley is Canazei, at a base height of 1,460m, a pretty resort, full of life with plenty of accommodation options. The best nursery slopes and easy runs are located here, as well as in neighbouring Campitello, and there is a huge amount for intermediates with the lifts above Canzei connecting to the famous Sella Ronda, a 24 km clearly marked circuit around the massive Sella Massif covering Selva Gardena, Corvara, and Arabba, which can be skied in either direction. Arabba has some challenging runs to explore on its north facing slopes. Advanced skiers can also test their nerve on the world class downhill runs of Selva, or travel to Alba at the end of the valley and gain access to the off-piste powder skiing on the ‘Queen of the Dolomites’, the Marmolada glacier, the highest mountain at 3,342m. The lift systems within the valley region are a mix of original and modern high speed chairs. Snowboarders are well catered for within Val di Fasse, with Canzei, Campitello and San Pellegrino offering a variety of terrain parks, pipes and boardercross areas.

Skiing in Val di Fasse – The Après-ski
Val di Fasse offers lively, traditional après-ski amongst its’ numerous bars and restaurants. Most of the villages have lots of charm, and offer both Italian and Ladin cuisine. Visit the Ladin Museum for an insight into this mountain race, or pass the time exploring the beautiful countryside on the many walking paths. Other activities in Val di Fasse include ice-skating, swimming, snowshoeing or paragliding.
