Ski school Vail Ski and Snowboard School is highly-regarded and offers world-class instruction in over 30 languages, with a range of lessons including first-time packages, private sessions and special workshops teaching advanced skills.
Children Ski holidays in Vail are a particularly family-friendly ski resort, with its childcare facilities and ski schools having an excellent reputation. Non-skiing childcare is offered at the Small World playschool for babies as young as 2 months, and children up to 6, and there is private babysitting and baby equipment rental available. Ski lessons are available in Vail for children aged 3 and up (potty-trained), with under 5's skiing for free. There are Kids Adventure Zones throughout the resort, and even a kid’s restaurant.
Dining Vail is well-known for the diversity and quality of its restaurants, with reservations recommended in many places. The town is full of over 100 restaurants to suit all tastes and budgets, with most types of international cuisine represented.
Après-ski Boasting an upscale atmosphere, Vail is home to 17 bars and 5 nightclubs, with its international après-ski scene both lively and varied. Choices range from casual sports bars and local haunts with happy hours, to chic piano bars and lounges, and upmarket clubs and discos.
Shopping Known for its extensive shopping, Vail has hundreds of stores and boutiques selling a range of goods, from expensive designer clothing to unique Western gifts. There's plenty of choice, but in general prices are quite high.
Town facilities As well as the many different shops, bars and restaurants, Vail has 3 banks, 3 supermarkets, a library, post office and tourist office, and an efficient bus service which links the various hotels and condos to the lifts.
