Tignes Resort Facilities

Ski Schools
Tignes boasts a large number of ski schools, offering skiing and snowboarding instruction for all levels, and specialist techniques such as off-piste, slalom and even ski jumping. The largest is EST Tignes with over 250 instructors, but there are plenty of others to try, including BASS, Evolution, Alliance and Snocool, with many offering British instructors and small class sizes.

Children
The resorts' size means that there are plenty of facilities for children and under-5's ski for free. Ski lessons are offered for children as young as 3 (Evolution 2), and most schools have English-speaking staff. There are a range of lessons and activities on offer, with schools such as ESF and Marmottons having designated areas on the piste, with drag lifts and colourful characters to ski around. For younger children and non-skiers, the resort offers specialist nanny and babysitting services.

Shopping
Tignes has over 150 shops, including over 50 ski rental, equipment and clothing shops, as well as designer boutiques and souvenirs shops. There are 4 supermarkets in Tignes, serving the large number of self-catering guests, most of which close for lunch and tend to be busy when the slopes close, and a twice-weekly market selling traditional Savoyard goods.

Medical facilities
There are 2 medical centres, one in Le Lac and the other Val Claret, offering emergency assistance, doctors and physiotherapy, and surgeries with English-speaking staff. There are 2 pharmacies in Tignes, also in Le Lac and Val Claret.

Services
Post Offices are located in Le Lac, Val Claret and Les Brevieres, and are open from Monday to Saturday, closing for lunch. There are five banks in the resort, most with cash points, and a Tourist Office is situated in Le Lac. Tignes also has 5 launderettes, a petrol station and car rental.

Eating and drinking
Tignes has an international feel, and with 70 restaurants and 60 bars and clubs, offers plenty of dining options, from family-friendly and relaxed to upscale and gourmet. Choose from a full-English breakfast to a Chinese or Mexican dinner, visit a cosy bistro and try some of the local dishes, or enjoy the scenery in one of the 6 mountain restaurants.

Getting around
Tignes is a car-free resort - cars cannot be parked in the street without a permit, and have to be left in one of the 4 car parks in the resort. There is a convenient free bus service that operates throughout the resort and connects all 5 villages, with the service from Lavachet to Val Claret running 24 hours a day.
