Snow Reports for Sun Peaks - Sunny resort with excellent champagne powder
The ski resort of Sun Peaks is situated in the Okanagan region of British Columbia in Canada - an area known for its high quality natural champagne powder. Sun Peaks boasts dependable slopes which receive well over 5m of snowfall each year, with skiing conditions enhanced by over 2,000 hours of annual sunshine. Despite the onset of major investment over the last few years, the slopes at Sun Peaks remain quiet and uncrowded, which is always a major factor, especially for beginners.  
 
Snow Conditions for Sun Peaks - Skiing over 3 mountains in quiet peaceful location
Sitting at an altitude of 1,255m, the resort offers a top elevation of 2,152m, with a total skiable vertical of 881m. The skiing takes place over three mountains - Mount Tod, Mount Morrisey and Sundance - and offers 122 runs for all abilities. There's a separate area for first-timers next to the village, and although beginners have an easy run option from each lift, the best choice for novice skiers is Sundance. Mount Morrisey offers excellent intermediate terrain, whilst Mount Tod is known for more challenging slopes, with steeper chutes, open bowls and tough moguls. Guides are available to show skiers the extensive off-piste terrain around the mountains.        
 
Snow Reports for Sun Peaks - Snowmaking facilities and first-class grooming
Upper slope averages for Sun Peaks reached 222cm during the 2008 season, with March seeing the highest amount of snowfall. The winter ski season is long, running from late-November to mid-April, and the resort does have snowmaking facilities, making for great conditions even early and late in the season. Grooming is of high standard in the resort, and the slopes are considered the best-maintained in Western Canada. Temperatures in Sun Peaks can dip down to -10C during December, rising to -1 in the month of April, when the resort sees plenty of sunshine.
