Steamboat Resort Facilities

The ski school at Steamboat is highly rated and is famous for training a number of Olympians. It employs 400 instructors and offers a range of lessons, from adult learn-to-ski packages to private instruction and adaptive clinics, and camps and performance centres teaching skills such as carving and racing. Free guiding is also available for people over 50 years of age.

 

The Kiddie Corral Day Care takes babies from as young as 6 months, and children up to 6, and there are a range of activities and evening events catered for children up to 12. Lessons are available for ages 2 and up, and the mountain has 5 children's lifts and 2 special teaching areas.

 

Steamboat has a good choice of over 250 shops both downtown and in the mountain village. There is a wide variety of ski and sports shops, and local stores sell clothing, jewellery, antiques, artwork, speciality food, wine and books. Gifts and souvenirs include Western items such as cowboy boots and hats.

 

Over 70 restaurants offer a wealth of choice both on the mountain and in town. Choose from casual cafes, family diners and home-style Western barbeque, to sushi bars and international restaurants serving Scandinavian, Mexican and Italian.

 

Steamboat has a relaxed and informal après-ski scene, with a range of pubs, bars, microbreweries and sports bars, as well as an ice-bar and martini bar, and many Western-themed venues.

The main visitor areas are the mountain village and the town of Steamboat Springs, which are linked by free bus service. As well as the shops and restaurants, services include 8 banks, a post office, dry cleaners, a library, internet cafes and hairdressers.

 

Steamboat has a medical centre and 3 chemists in town.
