St Johann Snow Conditions
St Johann Snow Conditions – Good snow coverage throughout the entire season
St Johann in Austria is situated at an altitude of 700m and has 60kms of skiable terrain. Snow coverage throughout the season is not as impressive as resorts perched at greater heights, of course. But if you are flying out to St Johann for your family skiing holiday this year, you can still look forward to plenty of skiing as the resort’s somewhat low elevation is boosted by north and north-west facing slopes. This, together with snow cannons on up to half of the runs, means throughout the entire season good snow coverage is assured.
Snow Conditions in St Johann – An abundance of snow for skiers of all levels to enjoy
The wide nursery slopes next to St Johann village itself, and the excellent ski school there, makes St Johann a first-time skier’s paradise. But that’s not to say intermediate level skiers and advanced skiers who head for St Johann for their cheap skiing holiday in Austria will find the skiing on offer there too limited. With St Johann being linked by bus to 6 other Austrian ski resorts in the popular Schneewinkel Ski Area, St Johann holidaymakers can choose from gentle slopes, more challenging intermediate terrain, and pistes for advanced and expert-level skiers too.
Snow Conditions in St Johann – Lots of snow and winter sunshine, and almost no fog
The largest amounts of snowfall at St Johann occur between December and March. Due to the Alpine climate, St Johann winters can be very cold, of course. Daytime winter temperatures can range between 2C-3C. Do remember to pack an extra layer for the evenings as night-time temperatures during the season can drop to as low as -6C. The 9 hours of sunlight in winter, combined with the wonderfully clear blue skies and almost no humidity, frost or fog makes the climate at St Johann as appealing as the resort itself.
