Part of the Arlberg mountain range, skiing in St. Anton offers an extensive amount of groomed terrain and a resort height of 1,300m, with a top elevation of 2,800m. The resort is not well-suited to beginners, as skiing in the St. Anton region offers steep challenging terrain, with a huge choice of intermediate and advanced runs, and some of the best off-piste in Austria.  Skiers can choose from two sides of the mountain, with high-speed access to the main hubs at Gampen and Galzig, and then on to the highest point at Valluga, at 2,800m, which offers the most famous sking in St. Anton, with some superb runs all the way back down to the valley floor. Slightly easier skiing in St. Anton can be found in Rendl on the other side, which has good slopes for more moderate skiers. The gentler lower slopes tend to get extremely crowded, and less accomplished skiers would find better conditions in the nearby resorts of Lech and Zurs, with more forgiving terrain.
