Squaw Valley Snow Conditions - Some of steepest terrain in North America
Squaw Valley lies nestled in the Sierra Nevada Mountains in California, and is the second largest ski resort in Lake Tahoe. Located on the North Shore, the resort sits at an altitude of 1,962m, with skiing up to 3,000m. A world-class ski resort, Squaw Valley is known to have some of the steepest terrain in North America, and attracts over 600,000 skiers every season. The resort sees an average snowfall of 1,100cm every year and, with plenty of fresh powder combined with over 300 days of sunshine every year, the conditions for skiing and snowboarding are consistently first-class.

Snow Conditions In Squaw Valley - Vast ski area, largest in California
Famous for its extreme skiing, the terrain is notoriously challenging, full of steep slopes, cliffs and chutes. The ski area is vast, covering 4,000 acres, and the resort boasts more skiable terrain than any other resort in California. The skiing itself is spread over 6 peaks and is characterised by wide open bowls and snowfields, with 30% of the terrain left in its natural state for advanced skiers and riders. Squaw Valley is unique in that it has no marked trails, with skiers selecting their own routes from the named lifts which are rated beginner, intermediate and advanced. One-third of the terrain is rated difficult, and includes legendary names such as the KT-22 peak; however the beginners' areas are excellent and unusually located at the top of the mountain, giving first-timers the benefit of the spectacular views and the high-altitude sensation.
