Snowboarding Lessons

Snowboarding Lessons - Much different to skiing
Before throwing yourself around on the slopes, snowboarding lessons are pretty much essential for most of us. Skateboarders and surfers will have an advantage as the sports have very similar principles but lessons will ensure you know and remember the basics and avoid developing bad habits that could hinder your experience on the snow. Even if you have skied before, snowboarding is a total different art and you will need to retune your brain and body to learn this new discipline. Mastering the essentials such as turning, stopping and sliding will not only ensure you spend less time frustrated and exhausted from all the falling over but will help avoid injury to both yourself and others. Many snowboarding injuries result from over-confidence or not having a sufficient knowledge of the basics. The last thing you want is an injury from a major wipeout on your first day to ruin your hard earned holiday. Every resort offers snowboarding lessons and while these can be booked on location, it is worth reserving your place in advance.

Snowboarding Lessons - Group lessons receive discounts
There are a few options available when it comes to deciding on lessons. Instructors offer private and group lessons so if you are on your own and budget is an issue, group lessons will be more cost effective and provide a social experience. It can be great fun learning to snowboard when the group members are all at a similar level and gives you the opportunity to make friends for when you are ready to brave the slopes unguided. It is worth checking the size of the group as too many learners can be time consuming and if a stag party or rugby club have all signed up, the instructor will be kept very busy. If you cannot find a small group lesson, private lessons are worth considering. These can be one-on-one or if you have a partner or a best friend the benefits of having an instructor focusing on one or two people are obvious. You will pick things up much quicker and should need less time learning before you are ready to go out on your own.

Snowboarding Lessons - Strongly advised for beginners
Many people who either can't afford lessons, or just don't fancy the idea of being schooled in the art of snowboarding decide to teach themselves. A lucky few snowboarding beginners will discover a natural talent but the majority will not be so fortunate and trying to do too much too soon can be a cold, painful and incredibly frustrating experience. In some cases, it can be extremely dangerous as in the excitement of being on a snow-covered mountain; adrenalin can overcome common sense about the risks. If you are determined to go it alone, having a trial run at a dry ski slope in the UK is a good idea. Being as excellent physical condition is essential as hurling yourself down a steep slope without any experience is almost certain to result in an injury of some kind, especially if limbs, joints and muscles are not suitably prepared. Taking lessons will ensure you are armed with the foundations to make yourself a better and faster boarder and even a short time spent in lessons can reap benefits on the slopes. It will also prevent you ruining your snowboarding holiday and ensure you spend your time on the snow and not in a hospital bed.
