Ski Safari

Ski Safari
A ski safari is an Alpine adventure that involves travelling on skis through various countries and mountain ranges, using lifts and helicopters along the way. Ski safaris enable skiers to get the best out of the mountains, taking in remote wilderness and untouched terrain, whilst enjoying exhilarating descents and spectacular views, without the crowds. A ski safari is an ideal way to experience the thrilling aspects of ski touring, but with more convenience, such as the use of lifts and more luxurious accommodation, such as hotels and chalets.

Ski Safari - Challenging but rewarding, excellent way to explore the mountains
A demanding but rewarding way to spend a holiday, ski safaris are organised tours led and supported by experienced guides, and are a great way to discover the beauty of the mountains whilst skiing off the beaten track. The trips aim to show skiers a number of ski areas in a short space of time, with ski safaris taking in the off-piste areas around the resorts. Many ski safaris pass through more than one country, and enable skiers to experience many different conditions and diverse regions, tackling a different area each day. Off-piste skiing skills are essential for those on a ski safari, and techniques such as 'skinning', meaning going uphill on skis are used, as well as the use of the local lift systems and helicopters to reach highly inaccessible areas. A certain level of skill is obviously needed for a ski safari, as well as a high level of fitness and endurance.

Ski Safari - Discover some of the worlds' best ski areas at one time
The aim of a ski safari is to give an exhilarating off-piste experience, whilst showing the beauty and diversity in and around some of the worlds' best ski resorts, and taking in a complete range of conditions and terrain. Guests stay in a combination of local mountain huts, hotels and chalets on a ski safari, and stay together as a group as they travel through the planned itinerary, with transfers, accommodation, most meals and lift passes generally included. Great areas for ski safaris in Europe include the Dolomites and the Sella Massif, Portes du Soleil, the 4 Vallees, and Zermatt and Cervinia.
