Ski school
Beginners on a ski holiday in Saalbach will find plenty of opportunity to hone their skills – the resort boasts no fewer than seven ski schools. The schools all enjoy good reputations, and the high concentration of British skiers here means that all schools employ English-speaking instructors. Nearby, you´ll find a further two schools at Hinterglimm and one more in the hamlet of Vorderglemm. Off-piste guiding is also available to skiers in Saalbach.

Children
Resort facilities in Saalbach include a good ski kindergarten, which accepts children from three years of age, and a non-ski kindergarten for children aged four years and over. Ski holidays in Saalbach are ideal for families, and the resort makes every effort to cater for children and teens. Child-friendly activities include swimming, ice-skating and tobogganing, while, in addition to the kindergartens, day care is provided by a network of hotels. Babysitting services can also be arranged, and many hotels and restaurants provide dedicated children´s menus. Lift pass rates are generous for children, and the youth pass gives discounts up to age 18 years.

Dining
There are some great places to eat out in Saalbach. The twin resorts of Saalbach and Hinterglimm offer a total of 68 places to eat, and there´s something to suit every taste and budget, from simple pizza joints to lavish hotels serving gourmet cuisine. Most of the resort´s formal restaurants are to be found in the hotels, most of which welcome non-guests. A total of 40 mountainside food huts means that those who like to ski-to-lunch will be more than content. Hearty, warming local fayre is the order of the day at many of the restaurants and cafes, but Mexican, Italian and fast-food options are also available.

Apres-ski 
Apres-ski in Saalbach is nothing if not lively. Mountain-side bars begin to get busy late afternoon, and the action doesn´t stop until the early hours.  Many après-ski bars open as early as 2pm, while most of the discos open there doors at 10pm and don´t close until 6am.  Dedicated partiers will be in their element  during a ski holiday in Saalbach, but this is perhaps not the resort for those who like their beauty sleep!

Town facilities
The pretty, pedestrianised centre of Saalbach offers visitors every service they good want. Holiday-makers skiing in Saalbach will find numerous banks and supermarkets, a post office, 24-hour chemist, launderette, dentist, several doctors´ surgeries and health centres, and an orthopaedic surgery, in addition to the bountiful bars, restaurants, pubs, nightclubs and coffee shops. There is a bowling alley in Saalbach itself, while adjoining Hinterglimm boasts a sports centre, tennis courts and ice rink.

The slopes
With its extensive ski selection, well-maintained slopes and excellent lift system, conditions are excellent for skiers in Saalbach. Opportunities for intermediates are abundant, and the large number of good ski schools means that beginners will have ample opportunity to perfect their technique. Nearby Hinterglimm offers more challenging opportunities for advanced skiers. The slopes are spread across north and south-facing mountainsides with lifts and runs that connect Saalbach and Hinterglemm, meaning that there is no need to descend to the village between runs. 

Shopping
The traffic-free town centre offers skiers in Saalbach the opportunity to buy everything from photography equipment and ski-wear to flowers, chocolates and souvenirs.  Browsing the shops in the picturesque, pedestrianised town centre is a wonderful way to spend an afternoon during a ski holiday in Saalbach.
