Skiing in Risoul
Skiing in Risoul offers an extensive area with slopes for all levels, and numerous stunning tree-lined runs with plenty of spectacular scenery. Together with neighbouring Vars, the resort makes up the Domaine de la Foret Blanche, the fourth largest ski area in France, with skiing in Risoul offering a great resort for first-timers, families and skiers on a budget, with little or no queues. One of the most southerly ski areas in the French Alps, the skiing in Risoul is known for its glorious weather, with the resort seeing over 300 sunny days every year, and at the same time managing to maintain an impressive snow record.

Located at 1,850m and with a top elevation of 2,750m, skiing in Risoul offers an extensive ski area, with the 180km of terrain found in the Domaine de la Foret Blanche home to a wide variety of slopes. Over half of the resorts' 112 runs are suited for beginners, with easy trails both close to the village and further up the mountain, with skiing in Risoul offering a good choice of intermediate terrain, particularly the tree-lined runs with great views. The skiing in Risoul offers fairly limited runs for experts, but there is some off-piste to explore and the resort of Vars is home to more challenging terrain. The resort boasts a long season, with skiing in Risou available from December to April, and although the snow conditions are generally good throughout the winter, over 30% of the slopes are supplemented by snowmaking facilities.
Skiing in Risoul - Affordable and convenient, with a good deal of sunshine
Opened in the late seventies, the resort is one of the more attractive of the French purpose-built developments, with skiing in RIsoul offering a quaint atmosphere with buildings that are sympathetic to the mountain surroundings, using wood and local stone. Apres-ski is relaxed and traditional, focusing on a small selection of bars and restaurants and a couple of discos, and off-the-slope activities whilst skiing in Risoul include ice-skating, swimming, bowling and a cinema.
