Portes Du Soleil Resort Facilities
Ski Schools
The four major resorts of Portes Du Soleil in the French Alps (Avoriaz, Morzine, Les Gets and Chatel) have their own ski schools and a beginner’s area. The qualified instructors are experienced, friendly and English-speaking, making Portes Du Soleil the ideal destination for first-time skiers from all over the world. Portes Du Soleil is particularly popular with families for this reason. Skiing and snowboarding tuition is available to adults and children. Group and individual tuition is on offer at the numerous schools, and you can even choose from basic learn-to-ski or snowboard packages, to one-on-one tuition in specialist techniques, such as mogul skiing or freestyle skiing/snowboarding.
Childcare
Even the most dedicated parent needs an occasional break. This is something the resorts across Portes Du Soleil recognise, and why the creche and babysitting services available there are second-to-none. The creches accept children from the ages of 3 months to 6 years, and ski schools there are for 3-year-olds and up. What’s more, at Avoriaz, there is a range of entertainment options for kids, from nightly shows and festivals, to art workshops. Private nannies and babysitters are also widely available throughout Portes Du Soleil. And at Les Gets the Cheeky Monkeys Childcare Company has a nanny and babysitter service that is renowned across the region as being excellent.
Shopping
Portes Du Soleil shopping can include visits to thriving outdoor markets, compact town centres and pedestrianised streets where you can buy everything from high fashion and sports equipment, to kids’ clothes and holiday souvenirs. Also on offer is ski wear, books, traditional Alpine ceramics, glassware and gifts, as well as local produce and regional food, such as chocolates, cheeses, breads and meats.
