Ski holidays in Poiana Brasov are located in the Transylvania region of Romania, deep in the Carpathian Mountains. Sitting at a height of 1,050m, the skiing reaches up to 1,800m and, surrounded by 4 mountains, the resort stays relatively snowsure. One of the country’s' most popular resorts, Poiana Brasov boasts excellent beginner slopes and its competitive prices attract an international clientele, with many from the UK.

With its ski area stretching along one side of the Postavaru Massif, Poiana Brasov offers mainly wide and gentle pistes and ideal terrain for skiing beginners. There's plenty of wooded trails and, with mainly northwest facing slopes, the average snowbase of between 50-60cm is preserved throughout the season. A nursery area on the plateau towards the top of the mountain enables beginners the chance to enjoy the spectacular views, whilst the lower nursery slopes are floodlit, giving novice skiers plenty of time to practice. Intermediate skiiers can gather speed on the long blue run leading back to the village, whilst more advanced skiers have 2 black runs to choose from. Poiana Brasov also has an Olympic run and various slalom runs.

The resort reports snow on the ground for 120 days a year, with the snow starting to fall as early as September. Its ski season runs from December to March, and on average the winter temperature is around -4C. Upper slope averages in the resort have reached 61cm in 2007, 47cm in 2006 and 93cm in 2005. Poiana Brasov is the only resort in Romania to have invested in snowmaking, with 1% of the slopes covered by snow cannons.
