Poiana Brasov Resort Facilities
Ski School
The ski school in the resort is highly reputable, with a staff of 120 European instructors. Most speak English, as well as French and German, and the atmosphere is friendly - class sizes are generally small but tend to get bigger during peak season.
Childcare
There is no resort-run childcare, however many of the hotels offer childcare and babysitting services. Ski lessons are offered for ages 5-12.
Shopping
There are a few small shops along the streets of the car-free resort, but generally shopping is fairly limited. Brasov offers much more choice, from department stores and boutiques to local craft shops.
Dining
There are around 10 restaurants in town, with 2 located up on the mountain. International food is served (the resort has a pizzeria) as well as traditional Romanian fare.
Après Ski
Après ski is fun and lively but mainly centred in the local bars and hotels, which offer an insight into the local culture, with Romanian theme nights featuring floorshows, traditional cabaret and folklore evenings. The bars do stay open late, and there is one disco in town.
Town Services
Most hotels offer convenient tourist services. The town centre has two cashpoints in the resort, and sterling should be changed into local currency, which must be used at all times. Credit cards and travellers cheques are not widely accepted. There's also a police station, tourist office and car rental. Buses run every half-hour to Brasov.
Medical Facilities
Poiana Brasov has a chemist, and some of the hotels offer medical assistance. Brasov is home to the Emergency Clinic Hospital, 12km away.
