Plagne Soleil Ski Holidays
Skiing in Plagne Soleil
Plagne Soleil is one of the more attractive small villages that make up the high-altitude ski resort of La Plagne. Located at 2,050m, Plagne Soleil is one of the highest of all the modern purpose-built villages, and sits in a sunny bowl above Plagne Centre, with spectacular views. The village is officially linked to neighbouring Plagne Village, and together they form one of the ten separate bases of La Plagne. Plagne Soleil is composed of attractive small ski-in/ski-out chalets built in the local Savoyard style, and these, together with accessibility to the ski area, make this sun-filled village a popular place to stay.
Skiing in Plagne Soleil – The Mountains
From Plagne Soleil it is possible to ski, walk or take the shuttle bus down to Plagne Centre, the main access point for the 225km of pistes in La Plagne. Twenty lifts originate from Plagne Centre, and ferry skiers to all sectors of the resort. These are just part of the highly sophisticated system incorporating over one hundred lifts, serving the whole of La Plagne. From here, skiers can access the glacial slopes of the Bellecote at 3,250m, perfect for expert skiers, with the extreme verticals of up to 2,000m and challenging off-piste, or explore the massive combined area of La Plagne and Les Arcs, known as Paradiski, with over 400km of terrain and 142 lifts. Access to Les Arcs is via the new Vanoise Express Gondola, which travels the 3,000m between resorts in just 4 minutes. For those who wish to just ski La Plagne, there are 124 runs to choose from – the majority of which are rated intermediate. Most of the skiing in Plagne Soleil and the upper villages is above the tree-line, with plenty of long winding runs through the glades and forests back down to the picturesque villages of Montalbert and Montchavin Les Coches. Beginners have lots of wide gentle slopes on which to practice, as well as a free lift in each village and numerous excellent ski schools. Snowboarders in La Plagne have the choice of 4 snow parks, situated in Bellecote, Belle Plagne, Montchavin Les Coches and Champagny.
