Skiing in Plagne Centre
Plagne Centre is the original of all the purpose built villages that make up the resort of La Plagne, and was established 40 years ago. The resort was the first of its’ kind in France, and was designed purely for convenience, offering doorstep skiing in a high-altitude area. Located at 1,930m and being close to two glaciers, Plagne Centre offers fantastic ski conditions, and has developed into a highly convenient base for the vast Paradiski region, the linked areas of La Plagne and Les Arcs, with a combined skiable area covering over 400km and served by 142 lifts. Plagne Centre is the lively hub of La Plagne, with a great selection of accommodation, bars, restaurants and shops.

Skiing in Plagne Centre – The Mountains
The largest single ski area in the world, and one of the highest, La Plagne consists of 124 runs over 225 km. Plagne Centre is located in the middle of the resort and is ideally suited to access the slopes of La Plagne. No fewer than 20 lifts originate from Plagne Centre, and integrate into the highly sophisticated system of 124 lifts serving the entire resort. From here, it is possible to explore all that La Plagne has to offer, including the wealth of over 70 intermediate trails, mainly cruising runs starting above the tree-line and dropping through the glades, and the expert short steep blacks and high verticals found high up at 3,250 on the slopes of the Bellecote glacier. Beginners have an excellent resort in which to learn, with ideally placed nursery slopes and a free surface lift in the village, and a wide choice of high quality ski schools throughout the entire resort. Snowboarders in Plagne Centre have convenient lift access to the 4 snow parks and 2 boarder cross courses found in the resort.

Skiing in Plagne Centre – The Village
Plagne Centre is the main village in La Plagne, and, with cable car connections to both Aime La Plagne and Plagne Villages, many visitors to the resort make use of the facilities found there. There is a good choice of apartment accommodation and a few hotels, which are located conveniently close to the lifts. The buildings of Plagne Centre are generally still in the original 1960’s style however, creating a rather bland environment. The busy streets of Plagne Centre are home to a wide selection of shops, bars and some good French restaurants, including Le Bec Fin and Le Chaudron, and lively nightlife can be found at the No Blem Café and Jet 37. Other activities to enjoy whilst skiing in Plagne Centre are ice-skating, bowling, snow-shoeing and swimming, and for the more adventurous, the Olympic bobsleigh track.
