Skiing in Peisey Nancroix The village of Peisey, or Peisey Nancroix as it is known as the area now incorporates the bus linked village of Nancroix, is a traditional farming hamlet, located in the Tarentaise Valley, and offers a welcome alternative for skiers wishing to experience the fantastic skiing of Les Arcs, but in a more rustic mountain setting. It is a very attractive little village, still practicing farming and housing a few bars and restaurants. Peisey Nancroix serves as the link to the huge area of Paradiski, the combined ski areas of Les Arcs and La Plagne, with its’ 425 km of pistes and huge lift network, and is fast becoming popular for its’ friendly authentic atmosphere and ideal location.
Skiing in Peisey Nancroix – The Mountains Peisey Nancroix, together with the Savoyard villages of Villaroger and Vallandry, and the town of Bourg Saint Maurice, sits at the foot of the huge Les Arcs region, well-known for its’ convenient purpose-built villages, high-altitude snow-sure slopes, reaching 3,226m, and fantastic views of Mont Blanc. The villages, with the exception of Villaroger, located at the opposite end, all make up the ski area known as Peisey-Vallandry, part of the giant Les Arcs ski circuit. The village of Peisey Nancroix is located at a height of 1,000m, and is home to its’ own ski area, with terrain through the scenic woodland and gentle slopes which are ideal for beginners. Skiers can travel back down to the village of Peisey on an off-piste trail, through the wooded areas. The 200km ski area of Les Arcs is easily reached from Peisey Nancroix via the extensive lift system, and there is skiing for all levels, with 20 green runs, 54 blues, and 19 blacks throughout the resort. Access to the high-speed gondola, the Vanoise Express, is at Plan Peisey, and the village is the hub which joins the entire area together. The trip to La Plagne takes in some breathtaking scenery and the brand new lift, a 16 million euro investment, takes just 4 minutes to cover the journey to Les Arcs.
Skiing in Peisey Nancroix – The Après-ski The village of Peisey Nancroix is a charming French mountain village, still with an active farming industry and a developing tourist trade. It provides a welcome change from the fairly bland purpose-built accommodation of Les Arcs, and is known for its’ friendly atmosphere. There is a small selection of bars and cafes in Peisey Nancroix, but for more choice, the nearest village of Arc 1600, with its’ family-friendly centre is just a short ride away, as is the more lively Arc 1800. For non-skiers, the main villages of Les Arcs offer activities including ice-skating, sleigh-rides, snow-shoeing, hang-gliding and speed-skating.
