Rich in history and tradition, the picturesque old market town of Ortisei is the principal community and cultural centre of Selva/Val Gardena, one of Italy's most celebrated ski areas. Skiers in Ortisei will find the village is located in a beautiful valley between the flat slopes of the Raschoetz and the steep wooded slopes of the Alpe di Suisi . At an altitude of 1,236 metres, Ortisei has its own good ski area, and is linked with Selva and the famous Sella Ronda ski circuit by a free express bus. Sella Ronda, with its 50km ski circuit, is itself part of the breathtakingly beautiful Dolomites mountain range, and skiers in Ortisei have the option to purchase the Dolomiti Superski pass, which offers access to an astonishing 1200km of pistes served by 460 ski lifts. Buses make the journey back to Bolzano, or you can drive in the other direction towards the Passo di Sella or Passo di Gardena.
Ortisei is the hub of apres-ski activity in Val Gardena, and combines a beautiful natural landscape with charming architecture, a varied cultural agenda and plenty in the way of dining, sporting activities and nightlife.
