Ortisei Skiing Holidays

The ski resort of Ortisei enjoys a beautiful location in the Italian Dolomites mountain range, and is at the heart of the famous Selva/Val Gardena ski region. At an altitude of 1,236 metres, Ortisei is within easy reach of the Sella Ronda, a day's outing along a 50km ski circuit through dozens of villages and hamlets. Sella Ronda itself is part of a vast ski area covering a staggering 1200km of pistes and served by 460 ski lifts. Buses make the journey back to Bolzano, or you can drive in the other direction towards the Passo di Sella or Passo di Gardena.

 

The mid-altitude terrain at Ortisei is a paradise for beginners and intermediates, with good nursery slopes and plenty of blue runs. The Seceda and the Alpe di Siusi can be reached by comfortable lifts, and the alpine meadows and ski pistes rise up to 2518m and the mountain peaks up to 3181m. Ortisei’s own ski area is small at just 19km, but the slopes are well-maintained and offer easy access to the famous Sella Ronda circuit, thanks to a free 'ski-express' bus service.

 

The charming architecture at Ortisei has been carefully designed to blend in with the stunning natural beauty of the surrounding mountains. A picture-perfect old mountain town, Ortisei’s town centre is largely pedestrianised and is a pleasant place to stroll around at any time of day or night. Ortisei is the main hub of activity for Selva and Val Gardena – two of Italy’s most celebrated ski regions. Apres-ski is lively throughout the season, with a buzzing nightlife scene, good restaurants, sports amenities, family-friendly activities and plenty of opportunity for shopping.
