Recreation The compact town is easy to get around, with an unspoilt traditional atmosphere, and is conveniently car-free in the evenings. Obergurgl is quite an expensive resort and popular with families, who tend to be repeat customers and enjoy the various upmarket hotels with their cosy welcoming ambience, and extensive facilities. There are various facilities for saunas and Jacuzzis in the resort, as well as thermal and healing baths, and spas in some of the hotels. Obergurgl often stages themed entertainment, concerts and folklore evenings, with lectures and slide shows being held at the resorts' conference centre. There is also a library in the resort.
Dining Most visitors stay in the resorts' hotels, generally on a half-board basis, where the majority of the towns' restaurants can be found. The food ranges from pizzas and casual fare to hearty Tyrolean specialities, such as fondue and raclette. Weekly Austrian evenings, with regional food, wine and songs are popular.
Apres-ski Although a quiet family-friendly resort, Obergurgl has a good range of drinking holes which get busy when the lifts close, and, again, are mainly located in the hotels. A few mountain restaurants stay open late and there are some traditional rustic bars in town, as well as a choice of discos.
