Ski school Obergurgl has one long-established ski school and another in Hochgurgl, offering group and private lessons in skiing and snowboarding, as well as cross-country skiing instruction, ski touring, and a weekly night show.
Children Lessons are available in the ski school for children aged 4 and up, and a mini-club takes children from the age of 3, offering two hours of lessons, and two hours in the ski kindergarten. A crèche is available for children aged 2 and up, and many of the hotels offer private childcare.
Dining There are 22 restaurants, mostly found in the resorts' many hotels, with 10 located up on the mountain. Places to eat include self-service cafes and coffee shops, Italian restaurants and traditional Austrian eateries.
Apres-ski Obergurgl is home to 21 pubs and bars, and 3 late-nght discos. The atmosphere is laid-back and family-friendly, with most of the après-ski taking place when the lifts close, and guests retiring to their hotels for dinner and drinks.
Town services The Obergurgl skiing resort has a bank and there are multiple cash point machines, as well as a post office, town hall, tourist office and library.
Shopping The small and compact town is easy to get around, and offers a traditional atmosphere with a fairly basic choice of shops, including 12 ski rental and clothing shops, one supermarket and a bakery.
Medical Facilities There is a both a doctor and a chemist in Obergurgl, and the resort has facilities for Mountain Rescue for emergencies.
