Oberau Snow Conditions

Snow Conditions in Oberau - Excellent for beginners and families
Oberau, along with the other villages of Neiderau, Auffach and Muhltal, make up the scenic Wildshonau ski area in the Tyrol region of Austria. Although the village sits at an altitude of just 936m, and is in fact one of the lowest resorts in the Austrian Alps, Oberau has been an established base since the 1940's, offering a charming and family-friendly ski area, with access to a whole host of terrain.

Oberau Snow conditions - Low village altitude, but access to top elevation of 1,903m
Oberau's slopes are best suited to beginners and lower intermediates, as the 10km of terrain offer gentle runs below the tree-line, and excellent doorstep skiing from the resort on wide nursery slopes. The slopes are generally north-facing, and Oberau is known for its first-class piste management. Neighbouring resorts are all covered on one lift pass and easily accessible by free bus, with the runs of Niederau and Auffach offering greater challenges on higher slopes, and skiers able to venture to a top elevation of 1,903m. For even more choice, advanced skiers can invest in the Kitzbuheler Alpen Pass, and gain access to almost 700km of terrain in areas such as Kitzbuhel and Ski Welt, explore the vast off-piste terrain or take a ski touring trip, which is popular in the region.

Snow conditions in Oberau - Snowmaking on lower slopes
