November Ski Holidays - Early in the season, choose a high-altitude resort
Traditionally the start of the winter ski season, a November ski holiday can offer a cheap but action-packed week away, if conditions allow. High-altitude resorts are the best bet for a November ski holiday, as they generally see heavier snowfall early in the season and more reliable conditions. A quiet time to hit the slopes, a November ski holiday can mean un-crowded pistes, lack of queues and great value lift passes, and can also offer a unique and more peaceful experience for those who are used to the bustling peak season months. Downsides to a November ski holiday can include a limited choice of pistes to explore, less reliable conditions and a smaller selection of bars, restaurants and facilities available, as the resorts begin to open for business.

Ski Holidays In November - Good choice of European and North American resorts
The choices of resorts for a November ski holiday depend on recent snowfall and general conditions. Proximity to a glacier often means great early snowfall for some of the European ski resorts, with major centres such as Tignes, Val Thorens, Chamonix, Zermatt and Saas Fee available for a November ski holiday. Many of the North American ski resorts open their doors this month, with the Thanksgiving holiday (which always falls on the fourth Thursday) being the first big weekend of the season and many people take advantage of an early November ski holiday. As Thanksgiving is the busiest and most expensive time to travel in the US, British visitors should plan their trips accordingly, with the earlier weeks of the month generally offering a cheaper option for a November ski holiday, with less crowds and more availability. Obviously depending on conditions, the best resorts for a November in North America include Vail, Breckenridge and Aspen in Colorado, Heavenly, Mammoth and Sugar Bowl in California, Killington in Vermont and Sunshine Valley at Banff in Canada.

November Skiing Holidays - Make the most of the increased snowmaking facilities in resorts
More and more ski resorts are opening their doors for a November ski holiday, thanks to heavy investment in updated snowmaking systems to supplement the amount of snowfall they receive. Due to their extensive facilities, some resorts in North America have opened their doors for November skiing in recent years, with little or no natural snow, instead relying wholly on state-of-the-art machines to cover the slopes completely with artificial snow.
