Nordic skiing is one of the world's most popular winter snowsports and it is also one of the most accessible. Nordic skiing can be enjoyed basically anywhere there is snow and it can be enjoyed by all ages. With Nordic skiing, or as it is also known, cross country skiing, you have the advantage of getting fit while skiing across some of the most spectacular winter landscapes in the world.  The sport itself dates back to 2000 BC and originated in ancient Scandinavia, and the skiing is usually over flat terrain rather than downhill. Ski boots are attached to the ski by a binding but the heel remains free, the skis are usually long and thin allowing the skier’s weight to be evenly distributed.
