A traditional Austrian village, Niederau has a simple charm especially suited to families with children or school groups, and offers a number of on and off-the-slope activities for all.

The apres-ski scene is fairly traditional, with local bars to visit and a couple of discos, and dining in the resort features local Austrian food as well as Italian. 
 
Niederau does hold regular organised events, such as Tyrolean evenings, live music and parties, with moonlit tobogganing and fondue nights also popular. On Saturday nights the ski school performs an evening show, with fireworks and a gluewein party.
 
Other things to do include taking a scenic ride on the Bumelzug Train from Oberau, which travels through the valley to the Kundl Gorge, or a day trip to Salzburg or Innsbruck.
