Snow Conditions in Morzine - Access to the whole of the Portes du Soleil
Morzine lies at the heart of the Portes du Soleil, in the Haute-Savoie region of the northern French Alps. Like all the resorts within this vast ski area, Morzine enjoys an excellent snow record, thanks to its proximity to Mont Blanc, and this, together with its prime location close to Geneva airport, makes it a favourite weekend ski destination for British skiers in search of reliable conditions.

Snow Conditions in Morzine - Reliable slopes thanks to Mont Blanc
The resort sits at a relatively low altitude of 1,000m, but sees skiing up to a height of 2,350m on the Morzine-Les Gets sector. Despite the low altitude of both resorts, the snow record of the region is very good, thanks to its location between Lake Geneva and the massive Mont Blanc. Beginners should find lots of welcoming slopes at Morzine, as in general the terrain is gentle and wide, but the resort offers skiing for all levels as it shares a lift pass with Les Gets, has great access to Avoriaz and is linked into the whole of the Portes du Soleil. The skiing at Morzine takes place in 3 places - Pleney, the main mountain above town, Super Morzine in the east and Nyon-Chamossierre to the south. Pleney is home to the ski schools, and boasts wide gentle slopes, whereas skiers looking for more challenges should try the blue pistes, red pistes, and occasional mogul skiing, at Nyon-Chamossiere or the sunny slopes of Super Morzine, the main link to Avoriaz. In addition to the high peaks around the resort, the extensive grassy pasture land that the slopes sit on top of help to retain the constant snow base throughout the season.

Snow Conditions in Morzine - Excellent record, plus addition of snowmaking
Morzine sees an average of 550cm of snowfall each winter, and enjoys a ski season starting in late December and finishing in late April. The 2007-2008 season in Morzine saw great conditions, reaching upper slope averages of 244cm in late March, and even 218cm in January. Natural snow can be augmented in Morzine by the addition of 632 snow cannons.
