Monterosa Skiing Holidays The Monterosa ski area is situated in the North West corner of Italy near the Italian- Swiss border, covering three valleys. Monterosa links the three main ski resorts of Gressoney, Champoluc and Alagna, combining 180kms of skiing. Monterosa is well known for off piste skiing but there is a good range of slopes for every standard of skier. Monterosa offers high altitude skiing in quiet, unspoilt surroundings with good value ski resorts. Monterosa Skiing holidays There are beginner’s slopes in Champoluc and Gressoney but not Alagna. Intermediate skiers have plenty of choice across the Monterosa ski area, lots of long, cruising red and blue runs. There are minimal queues, spectacular scenery and tree lined runs or wide open bowls to experience. For expert skiers in Monterosa there is a challenging 7km run at Alagna, plenty of off piste opportunities, loads of powder and heli skiing on the Alagna glacier. There are no purpose built facilities for snowboarders but there is plenty of off piste fun. There is 35kms of cross country skiing.
Ski resorts of Monterosa Champoluc is a pretty, Alpine village, full of charm, situated at 1570m on the western valley of the Monterosa ski area. It is a quiet, uncrowded resort and offers good value for money making it a great ski holiday destination for families. Gressoney has two parts, Trinite and St.Jean which is the larger of the two but a short drive from the slopes; it is possible to ski home to Trinite. Gressoney is a charming, unspoilt mountain village with stunning views and good access to Monterosa. Alagna is the eastern valley of the Monterosa ski area, it is a quiet, rustic village that is not for beginners but offers plenty of off piste and powder skiing.
