Skiing in Mont Tremblant Mont Tremblant (“trembling mountain”), the highest peak in the picturesque Laurentians, is situated a breathtaking 1 hour & 30 minutes drive from Montreal, in French-speaking Quebec. This resort was the first to be opened in Canada and skiing here dates back to the 1930’s. In recent years, major development and investment has completely transformed the old Mont Tremblant, creating a huge European-style resort at the base of the mountains. Mont Tremblant has been ingeniously designed to incorporate traditional Quebecois architecture in the pedestrian village, with buildings with brilliantly coloured tin roofs lining the cobbled streets, housing a multitude of accommodation, shops, bars and restaurants all within walking distance. The region also includes the villages of Tremblant and St.Jovite, accessed by shuttle bus, and the result is a ski resort offering a fantastic combination of French elegance and atmosphere, together with wonderful Canadian service and hospitality.
Skiing in Mont Tremblant – The Mountains Mont Tremblant offers skiing on four faces of the massive mountain, reaching a peak of 914m, with skiing for all levels of skiers. It is possible to follow the sun all day on Mont Tremblant, starting off on the North Side, a short 15 minute drive, and then continuing on to the South, which is accessible from the village. Beginners will find the best runs here at the South, with the longest run in the resort, the Nansen, leading skiers gently down the mountain on a 6km continuous trail, whilst intermediates can find long groomed cruisers on both the North and South Sides. The modern lift system, made up of 9 chair lifts and one high speed gondola, takes skiers to a wide variety of terrain, including the newly opened Versant Soleil, with its’ lovely sunny slopes. Here more than half of the area is gladed, with plenty of blacks and double blacks creating a playground for advanced and expert skiers. The North side of Mont Tremblant is home to Canadas’ steepest run, Dynamite, with its’ 42 degree angle, and some other blacks worth a mention, including Expo and Kandahar. Mont Tremblant boasts Canadas’ largest snowmaking operation, covering 80% of the mountain.
