Mogul Skiing Resorts
Mogul Skiing Resorts - Generally full of steep mountains with challenging terrain
The term 'mogul' refers to the bumps formed on a ski slope when skiers naturally descend the mountain, and there are a number of mogul skiing resorts specifically for those that enjoy the thrill of navigating this challenging terrain. Moguls can be man-made or free-formed, generally being created on un-groomed pistes, which then freeze and harden to create bumpy conditions that demand high skills, strong knees and often nerves of steel. There's a definite technique to this kind of skiing, which is vastly different from flying down smooth well-groomed trails, but plenty of mogul skiing resorts in which to practise these fast and furious descents.
Mogul Ski Resorts - From Chamonix, Val d'Isere and Zermatt, to Aspen and Jackson
Both Europe and North America has some excellent mogul skiing resorts, with most of the more challenging fields found in ski centres known for their steep aggressive terrain. Some of the most popular mogul skiing resorts include Val d'Isere and Chamonix, which were the original site of the famous Boss des Bosses Mogul Competition for resort workers, with Zermatt, Meribel and Courchevel being recent additions to the contest. Zermatt, in particular, is well-known for its moguls, and holds the annual Triftji Bump Bash each April, attracting some of Europe’s best mogul skiers, at all levels and categories. In the US and Canada, where the terrain is generally extremely steep and the mogul fields are on a massive scale, some of the best mogul skiing resorts include Steamboat Springs, Jackson Hole, Aspen Mountain, Winter Park and Sugarloaf.
Mogul Skiing Resorts - Learn the basic technique and progress from there
All mogul skiing resorts have instructors who teach the basic techniques of bump skiing, with lessons, private guiding and specific training and exercise all helping to master the moguls. Mogul skiing can be tried and enjoyed by every form of skier, with some of the best mogul skiing resorts being those that cater to all levels, and offer all-round facilities and apres-ski entertainment.
